And the situation will likely get worse in the years to come. Because industry is not only on the rise, but many also retire.
Information Technology and Communication Industry (ICT) is growing. Since 2010, the number of people working in the industry has increased by nearly 30 percent of some 200,000 people, and in eight years perhaps some 236,000 people in such professions, as they say in a study published Thursday, reports “albo.ch”.
The IPT has estimated that by 2026, current hot spots must be fulfilled in part due to the departure of over 51 thousand experts. Along with some 37,000 people because of increased demand, this results in a total of 88,500 young professionals.
This demand can be partly covered by new graduates (31,500) and immigration (16700). Therefore, over 40,000 additional skilled workers must be trained, IT experts' organisation calls.
