This clinic actually has 19 beds. They have been in total from January to August of this year, over 37 thousand cases that have sought emergency medical assistance.
The director of this clinic, Basri Lenyan, told Free Europe Radio that compared to the previous years, the total number of those who have sought medical assistance in the institution has increased.
“In the January-August Emergency Clinic, more than 37 thousand cases have been requested. Of them, 70 percent belong to acute life- threatening diseases, while 30 percent belong to accidental situations in traffic. Of the total number, there were 2635 people at Emergency Clinic in communications accidents, of 12 dead”.
Also, we have additional numbers that require emergency medical services, where the old Avaz continues and the disrespect of the reference system from regional hospitals, referring to cases that can manage them. While cases that require sub-special treatment, you can safely send to Emergency Clinic, where we accept those cases for treatment”, Lenyan said.
By contrast, the Emergency Clinic has an area of about 507 square feet [507 sq m] and has 19 beds, which, according to Basri Lenian, did not meet patients ' needs and requirements.
Healing outside Kosovo remains only solution for children with serious illnesses
The project to build the new Emergency Clinic building has been drafted since 2007, but it has not yet been functional.
Lenyan adds that with the functioning of this facility that will provide emergency services, the situation will change for the better.
The renovation of Emergency Clinic, which has been provided new equipment and we have also managed to provide a group of doctors with emergency character, and a new approach, as the states in Europe have arranged, but nurses will change for the better by helping patients in need”, Lenyan said.
In the Ministry of Health, they say that investments in infrastructure have been made within the emergency clinic facility, but also in equipment.
Albattri Matoshi, media adviser to the minister of health, has stated that the new emergency object is under construction as well.
“As far as the Emergency Clinic is concerned, investments have been made in the old facility, where it is completely renovated worth over 300 thousand euros. But, also, the new emergency is being built”, Matoshi said.
However, another problem associated with the Emergency Clinic is the lack of nurses.
According to officials, this has happened for various reasons, given the lack of conditions for jobs, low wages and the unbearable flow of patients. (REL)
