The public offends judge in war crimes trial

In the trial of Darko Tasic, charged with war crimes, today the Prizren Foundation Court testified to witness Kasum Hajdari.

The Witness related that both fellow villagers and close neighbors who were with the Tasic family had had good reports “until a year before the war began provocations on their part”.

I've been scraping gravel and shipping at the Little Hoça, while Darko provoked me by saying I'm helping the KLA along the street stretch so they can act”, witness Hajdari said before the court.

“My house was fourth in a row, in which we were approximately 12 people. Close by was a mill of ours where the Serbian police and army were deployed and gradually began to enter our doors. There were about 30-40 soldiers on my property and about 10 police officers. There were 4 or 5 trucks in my courtyard of the Serbian Army, while in the courtyards of Bajram, Musa and Malush Hajdari were all eight trucks of their”, Kasum Hajdari confessed.

Indictee defender Dejan Vasic asked the witness how old his brother Arben was as a member KLA and what happened when the police came to you?

Justice Chairman Artan Seryan rejected this question, for prosecutor Drita Hajdari argued that the question is not relevant to this examination.

The Witness Hajdari said that he had seen Darko with a motormotive while taking home the household items at his Dervisi uncle's home.

It's true, I've seen Sveta, Srecko and Darko Tasic among Serbian soldiers and policemen, and the things I've got half of them found at the house of Darko”, he said.

Tasic is accused of committing these crimes in Kosovo in March 1999 in Krusha Minor, Prizren.

Thereafter, the witness confessed how March 1999, they were expelled from his home to Malush Hajdari's home.

And they took bread in our house and gave it to us. There was Theodore Stanqiq, who told us he had plans for us to be released, he waved from Hasi's section and told us that we can go to the barracks (kazerma) in Prizren because there is protection”, witness Hajdari said.

Lawyer Vasic stressed that witness Hajdari in the November 16th 2012 statement has not mentioned his defense, Darko.

While special prosecutor Drita Hajdari had remarks adding that the witness always mentioned Darko.

Prosecutor Drita Hajdari had many remarks in the manner of questioning by lawyer Vasic, considering this contrary to legal provisions which define the indirect way of questioning the witness, as some of the questions were asked at the previous session in turn.

Dejan Vasiq's “Avokat is presenting direct questions to the witness. This is a shame, so please the chairman of the court to stop this way of questioning and the lawyer take the witness testimony in accordance with the” law, Prosecutor Hajdari stressed.

After that, a member of the Shehu family from Krusha e Vogel who had lost 14 members of his family to the public spoke insulting words to the judge.

Afterward, Judge Seryan decided that the person who offended would be taken out of the hall.

Tasic was declared innocent, denying the Special Prosecutor's claims.

The prosecution claims that Tasic between the 15th and March 26th 1999, in the neighbourhood known as the <x0-Hajdari”, in Krusha e Prizren, in his quality as a member of Yugoslavia's Police Reserve Forces, in co-ordination with other still-undefined chiefs participated in the seizures of property, plunder, illegal and intentional destruction of property (states) and property theft.

According to the indictment, all of this was not justified with military needs, resulting in the burning of homes, the taking of vehicles, agricultural machinery, and other valuable items belonging to Kasum Hajdari, as well as other family members.

With these actions in accordance with the indictment, Tasic is accused of committing the criminal act of plunder, deliberate destruction, and serious assault on human dignity.

The next point of the indictment that Tasic charges is that between the 26-27 March 1999 police dates, as a reserve member of the Yugoslav Police along with other MPB forces, he participated in desecration of lifeless bodies, a number of unidentified persons burning those bodies illegally, or seeking to destroy them as well as disfigured on the Drin River, in a country located outside the village of Krusha e Vogel.

According to the descriptions of these actions, Tasic has carried out a serious or cruel attack on his personal human dignity.
