The Social Democrat Party (PSD) has reacted against the Court of Appeals ruling, which today has confirmed the previous sentence by the Constitutional Court for Kosovo Assembly MPs Faton Topalli, Albulen Haxhiu, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi and Albin Kurti.
According to the PSD, the four MPs have been convicted of charging gas drop at Kosovo's Assembly hearings, with the aim of preventing ratification of the Demarcing Agreement with Montenegro and the Community of Serb-run municipalities.
Full response of PSD:
The Appeals Court today has confirmed the previous sentence by the Constitutional Court for Kosovo Parliament deputies Faton Topalli, Albulen Haxhiu, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi and Albin Kurti.
The four MPs have been convicted of charging gas drop at Kosovo's Assembly hearings with the purpose of obstructing ratification of the Demarcing Agreement with Montenegro and the Serb-run Community Agreement. This, despite the fact that the Constitutional Court of Kosovo has already concluded that some of the provisions of the Agreement for the Community of Serb majority municipalities are not in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. Until on the other side, the president of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaci and Montenegro's president, Mr. Filip Vujanovic, in February of this year, have agreed to the possibility of redefining the Agreement for Demarketing between Kosovo and Montenegro, as evidenced by mistakes in the agreement to set the border line between the two states.
Today's ruling by the Court of Appeals comes at a time when the Republic of Kosovo is on the verge of reaching a final agreement with the Republic of Serbia, for which there is a complete lack of transparency. The move once again confirms the problematic functioning of the justice system in our country, which remains hostage to political developments and the interests of power. So for the Social Democrat Party, it's an unfair decision. The PSD requires literal functioning of the justice organs and views any direct or indirect intervention of power in the decisions of justice as unacceptable.
