Protesters seek to stop shopping for Kosovo, need elections

This was the third protest organised by civil society and “Proposed”, with demands for Chief Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi's resignation, property in the judiciary and cleaning of KLA war veterans' lists.

In addition to demands that were part of previous protests, protesters this time called for the adoption of the opposition resolution LDK, Vetevendosje and PSD in the Kosovo Assembly, through which the country's leader would be unable to negotiate the change of borders in conversations with the Serbian side, the KP broadcasts.

Analyst Imer Mushkolaj, who has spoken on behalf of protesters, has called on opposition parties to join the protests.

We've seen a dirty game between parties for the past two days. Hashim Thaci is not allowing the resolution to be adopted to prevent him from discussing the country's territory in Brussels. He is risking Kosovo's citizenship. The Assembly, meanwhile, has been blocked by the minority representatives of the people, from the Speaker of the Assembly. So far we as citizens have been trying to make our contribution, but it is time for the Parliament not to continue, not only space for conferences. It's time for power to show it's to govern here and not block. The opposition must take responsibility, we today ask opposition parties to join our call for protest. With the only request to save the country and if it continues with new elections”, it has said.

Mushkolaj has called on the membership of all political parties to join, as political correction has said.

“Me or without us as organisers we will continue to do our job. But if the ruling parties tell us we're doing the opposition nurse, we tell you we will do so tomorrow with your opponents. Once again, we call on the membership of political parties to engage in correction, not of borders, but of politicians who are leading us to collapse”, he said.

The president is trying to block the decision-making in the assembly so that at the next meeting with Vuchy, he can create principles that should be made in the Assembly. We don't have these today and we know that the president just tells us. We know he tells us that nothing will be lost but just winning. That's a lie”, he said.

Finally, a statement was read by all protesters.

Today as never before, it is clear that politics is interfering in the judiciary. Misuses are not being addressed and such a system, witnessed by us citizens, is destroying our future. Today we protest and demand that our country's sovereignty be respected. We seek to stop shopping with our citizenship, with our existence. We seek new elections”, the statement said.

Otherwise, the next protest of citizens and civil society will be held in a week.
