Post workers have gone on strike, demanding salaries they have not yet received.
According to the communiqué Board of Directors and the management of the company have reacted to several months ago, which if the government's Universal Postal Service coverage is not carried out, the company will face financial problems and will not be able to execute wages for employees, as a fundamental right guaranteed by law.
The “Management by September 6, 2018, has sent the last letter to Government, through which it has announced that it has fulfilled all legal preconditions including confirmation by ARKEP, that the Universal Post Service is covered by the Government, and that there is over a month that this issue is in Government's power to carry out the remunification”, the communique said.
As reported in the communiqué so far, the outstanding debt paid by the Kosovo government for the Universal Postal Service has reached about 5m euros, and the exact failure to pay this debt has brought about this situation in which they are present.
The company's “Management has spent these tools from the company's own revenues to offer the Universal Post Service, because the Law on Post Service owes it to perform such service, as well as the same law imposes Government on it to repay the Post for the losses caused by this service”, is said in communique.
The company management praises employees' demands as rights and legal, because not carrying out this financial obligation by the Government has been unable to execute wages.
We have discussed this issue dozens of times with union representatives and company employees.
The company management recognises the situation as very disturbing and called on the Government of Kosovo to make the decision to cover the Universal Postal Service as soon as possible so that employees can take salaries and the company can return to normal condition.
Any delay in this decision will only deepen the crisis in the company and bring serious negative consequences to all aspects.
