The new Kosovo Police Director, Rashit Qalaj, has said that official police cars in most cases are not sure of driving because of old age and large numbers of past miles.
Kosovo Police have a certain number of vehicles and their number is quite large, but the actual situation is slightly different since most of these cars are old and have many miles past and I can say that in most cases they are not safe for driving”, says Qalaj for callo.com.
He says that with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Finance Ministry, they will buy cars in order to support police officials on the ground.
But with new cars, Qalaj says the service will be equipped in shifts, not commanders and supervisors.
It's my priority that the police officers we have in the police station especially support the new cars, not the commanders and supervisors take the new cars, but the priority will be service-changing at police stations, whether by cars or other equipment necessary for the police's field work”, says Qalaj.
The gate in this interview has also been talking about the instruction on which police officials should use the official car.
According to Qalajt, the police have the right to own a car, but for certain occasions.
“Actually we have a guide to the possession of cars that we call in calls and not only the commanders of the stations but other services that possess the car on the phone, but the car on the call doesn't mean the car for transport, it doesn't mean that the car should be used for private purposes, but the car on call means that the individual leading a station is able to respond in case it happens outside the time of”, says the general director of Police.
In the event of misuse, Qalaj says serious measures will be taken.
In the event of absolutely misuse, we will be taken very seriously, so that this can be stopped and the consequences will be significant for each”, says Qalaj.
