The central bank says increases in the domestic market have been influenced by rising prices in the world market, but in fact for years in Albania at every summer season, fuels are expensive.
Albania has a high fiscal burden on oil and gasoline trading, even in 2017, and the liquid gas used for vehicles has been imposed on excises.
Over 60 per cent of the fuel prices Albanian citizens buy consists of taxes. In addition to budgetary taxes at the price are included and tariffs receiving private concessioners, such as the one for fuel scanning or marketing services.
In each liter of oil sold on the market, the Albanian government collects 37 lbs of excise money, 27 leks of circulation tax, 3 carbon tax and 7 to 10 leks of relicensation tax.
Two fees paid for private concessioners are added to these four budget taxes. 1 per litre for fuel marketing and 1.4 lek per litre for marketing concession. In the end, there is an additional tax on the added value - 20 percent of the final price or about 30 cents per litre - after these 6 taxes.
A liter of oil today in Tirana was traded at over $180 per litre, of which about $110 is tax.
