Former American presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, has honoured US Senator John McCain, the war hero whose coffin was brought to Washington's cathedral on Saturday. Before that, his family had demanded that the coffin stop at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to honor those who died in the war.
Obama and Bush, a Democrat and a Republican, were accompanied by US leaders, Vietnam-era officials, to honour former war prisoner John McXain, who died 25 August from cancer disease.
President Donald Trump has not attended the ceremony, while members of his administration, including his daughter Ivanka, have been present.
McCain's family had made it clear that Trump was not welcome at the honour ceremony in Arizona and Washington.
