Enhancing co-operation and establishing communications channels to ensure support for businesses were the main goal of meeting Kosovo's Afarism House representatives with Ferizaj Mayor Agim Aliu and Deputy Minister and Co-ordinator of the Inter-Discial Economic Development Council in the Ferizaj municipality, Mustafe Grainca.
The lack of laws and the presence of some unmet laws is hampering investments in the country, said OAK Board Chairman Skender Krasniqi, who added that co-operation between the OAK and municipalities is necessary, as it is easier to identify problems and achieve to improve them.
Mayor Aliu initially thanked the Kosovo Afarism Oda for the visit and added that the biggest problem for businesses in Kosovo is the high level of crime and corruption, whose presence is causing foreign investors to step down as well.
According to Aliu, neighboring countries are finding different ways to attract foreign investors, while the opposite is happening to us and that to improve the current situation, new schools must first be created, as we currently have many skilled workers in non-adequate directions and that further work should be done in improving the culture of work.
According to Mustafe Grainca, deputy minister of finance, the Public-Private Partnership Law is not finding implementation in municipalities and it is necessary to become a relief of this law.
He also announced that Ferizaj's municipality has no duty for exercise of activity, there is only tax on property, which is expected to be lowered in order to create a more favourable environment for businesses.
Kosovo's Afarism Oda at this meeting was represented by: Board Chairman Skender Krasniqi and official Mirjeta Shala.
