Trade and Industry Minister Arbene Krasniqi, with the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan, has signed the Memorandum of Tourism Co-operation with Japanese Tourism Agency Commissioner Tabata Hiroshi.

Through this agreement Kosovo and Japan have expressed a desire to enhance friendly relations between the citizens of the two states to facilitate economic development and increase tourism potential in both countries. The agreement aims to develop the two-way exchange of information, experience and knowledge in the field of tourism through increasing the number of tourists between the two countries, direct contacts between respective tourism authorities and participation in tourism fairs in both countries.

In this case, Minister Krasniqi's U.D. has indicated that Kosovo is interested in increasing the number of Japanese tourists in Kosovo through this agreement, as a precondition for attracting Japanese investments to tourism, even in other areas of interest to the country's economy.

During the visit to Japan, the minister's task officer, along with representatives of a number of states from all continents, has participated in the Second Minister for Tourism, with the theme: “Sustainable Tourism Management for the Development of Community”, organised by the World Tourism Organisation. Here, Mrs. Krasniqi has had the chance to meet senior state tourism officials from countries like: Butan, Cambodia, Iceland, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, with whom he discussed possible bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism.

All these activities are conducted under the world's international and largest tourism fair “Japan Tourism EXPO 2018”, which is being held in Tokyo from September 20th to September 23, 2018. Kosovo is being represented for the third time at the fair, but for the first time under the umbrella of the Investment Agency and the Support of Enterprises in Kosovo, KIESA. In addition to promoting Kosovo as a tourism destination, different tourist packages for Kosovo are being promoted.

A Kosovo tourist agency is also participating in the fair, which is presenting its tourist packages in Kosovo. Kosovo's standards are solemnly opened by MTI Minister Arberes Krasniqi and Kosovo Ambassador to Japan Leon Malazog.

Tourism is a priority of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Japan. Lately, the Ministry of Trade and Industry has turned the Tourism Division into Tourism Department and regularly enables the participation of Kosovo tourism operators at world tourism fairs to promote Kosovo tourism potential.
