The campaign handle is the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, while Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi warned on Friday that they would conduct the campaign transparently and directly, without discrimination, prejudice and respect for the will of any citizen.
Our goal is to inform citizens of the big picture, the benefits from our membership in NATO and the EU, which means only protected boundaries, foreign defence policies and open roads for our citizens, through membership, means more foreign investment, jobs, large market for crackling products, more opportunities for education and advancement of new generations, and at the same time fuller rule, the judiciary, as well as reform in court and in all areas of social life<1>, Xhafer said at Friday press conference.
He called on participants in the campaign to conduct an adequate, correct, dignified manner in order for citizens on September 30th to bring the real decision.
A total of 71 MPs from all parliamentary groups will be included in the Parliament campaign, except for VMRO- The opposition DPMNE, which announced Xhaferin would not participate in the campaign and that it requires that means be spent for other purposes.
The Assembly will rent space to 65 media, which by August 10th had delivered the award to the KSHZ for the referendum. The media plan, Xhaferi said, will be published on the site of the Parliament, and MPs will carry out the campaign on television and radios, and for showing their positions will have nine minutes to one hour.
MPs according to free will could also show their referendum positions in their electoral entities, while as Xhaferi said, there is no obstacle in this campaign to include other representatives of government and political parties, but reiterated that this should be done by individual means.
The plenary sessions in the Assembly are not expected during the campaign, but the Parliament Speaker does not rule out the possibility of having the next emergency session if he needs it.
