The chairman of this commission, Speed Bulliqi, told Kosovo Radio that the facts are stable, but the issue now depends on the mood of politics.
The Haradinaj government had urgent issues on ratification of the agreement on demarcation with Montenegro, but there is no urgency to overhaul the border on the basis of arguments the State Commission has offered to mark the border under speed of Bulqi. The latter has said that even after the adoption of the Law for ratification of the agreement, including the commission's final report, they have continued to meet the report with new facts, and now it is up to the Government to form a working group that will talk to the Montenegrin side.
“We as a commission have finished the job and are waiting to open the opportunity to sit down and dialogue with the Montenegrin side on the border issue”, Bulqi told Radio Kosovo.
Radio Kosovo finds that the government has not yet formed the working group, given the two-year deadline to complete the issue. In a written reply, the Government Information Office said it is working in this direction, but they have not provided details. In fact, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has also acknowledged that this is not an urgent issue.
“We are very grateful to Montenegro that the border agreement and the readiness for the border agreement to be handled in accordance with what we have agreed on, which is correction in two directions, Chuckor and Tower. That's when we determine it. We are not under time pressure for this because we have several other topics that are very important now, such as visa liberalisation”, Haradinaj has said.
Whenever this issue is carried out, Bulqi says the Commission for Border Marking has offered sufficient arguments and that border correction now remains the political will.
The “of course we stand behind those facts that we possess, because even the Montenegrin side is aware of the concessions made in this process and all of this depends on the mood of politics, rather than the policy will be willing to push this process further”, Bulqi said.
Bulqi hopes that the president of Kosovo and Montenegro will push this issue forward and correct those border points, where, according to him, it is done badly by the preliminary commission. On Tuesday, President Hashim Thaci met in Podgorica with his Montenegrin counterpart, Milo Djukanovic, but it was not known whether they have even talked about the border correction issue, but only about deepening bilateral reports.
