Former Commander The KLA, Syleman Selimi and Jahir Demaku, have been declared against holding the protest warned by a group of citizens on September 19th before the Palace of Justice for their release.
Selimi and Demak, through a letter provided by “Gazeta Blic”, have expressed their views regarding this protest, which they described as not necessary means for their release.
After the warning in the media to organise a protest on the 19th of this month's 12th century before the Court of Justice we thank all those who express support for our right, we also understand their real concern and willingness to contribute to the sensitivity of the opinion.
We are being held in Dubrava prison unjustly without any legal grounds. This is now also clear to me by the decisions of competent courts that have reversed the decisions of the preliminary courts in the case known in the opino as Drenica 1 and 2. We do not view protests as necessary, nor do we view them as the proper way to do so. We expect justice bodies to act in accordance with law and in respect of our right as known citizens of this country. With respect, Sylejman Selimi and Jahir Demaku16/09/2018<180>, says the letter of Selimi and Demak.

On the other hand, organisers have said the motto of the protest is “A group of citizens have decided to seek release through protests by Sylejman Selimi, sentenced to war crimes to eight years in prison.
The protest will be held Wednesday at 12 o'clock at the Palace of Justice in Hyvalya in Pristina, where the majority of justice institutions, including the court and prosecutor. “We announce that on the 1909.2018 days Wednesday from 12: 00 p.m., the Pacific Protet will be held in Pristina, in front of the Palace of Justice, demanding immediate release from the prison for our KLA Liberation Commander General General Sylejman Selimin, Colonel Jahir Demaku and all their fellow fighters are being held unjustly in Kosovo prisons without any legal basis <ex1>, the report says.
A group of people who say they protect rescuers organises the protest. “Organised Council for Liberation Rights. Promising protest we want Justice for Liberations!”, said further in the announcement.
We remember that Sylejman Selimi, along with several other former KLA fighters, had been sentenced in a long process known as “Drenica 2”. Former boss of The KLA at the time it faced war crimes charges has held the position of ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Albania.
