The Kremlin dismissed France's president's claims -- Emmanuel Macron -- that Russia's president, Vladimir Putin, “dreams of the European Union's dissolution.
Denial by spokesman Dmitry Peskov took place after Macron, in an interview for the Swedish public broadcaster, said he wants to work with Putin, despite his alleged <x0malinje”) plans for the EU.
I respect Vladimir Putin and I am one of those leaders who say we should build a new architecture of security and defence with Russia. We need to talk to Russia. But Vladimir Putin's dream is to break up the EU”, Macro said.
Peskov denied the malicious intentions towards Europe.
The “is in our interest for the EU to be prosperous and stable”, he said.
Peskov also said Putin is working to develop ties with EU member states and strengthen the bloc.
Macron and Putin met for the last time during the World Football Championship, held this summer in Russia.
