About two thousand people have been evacuated from their homes after an explosion at an oil refinery in southern Germany.
Police at the Upper Bavarina showed that eight people were injured by a fire that broke out from the “Beyern Oil” refinery facility near the city of Ingostad on early Saturday.
More than 400 firefighters and policemen were involved in helping to extinguish the flames and evacuate over 1800 people from the dwellings near where the fires had fallen.
The German news agency DPA said all injured were employees of the refinery that was engulfed by fire.
Refinery produces 120 thousand barrels of oil a day, but it is unclear how much fire on it will impact.
Authorities said the cause of the blast was not yet known.
