Delawi, at a farewell ceremony organised by President Hashim Thaci, said that if the first 10 years were for institution creation, the next decade should be for empowering institutions.
We have worked productively together over the past three years in good and bad, but I am leaving with hope because I know that the citizens of this country have the potential to ensure Kosovo's progress towards the next chapter. But this progress depends on them”, Ambassador Delawi said.
The justice institutions are slowly building trust in citizens, and people want to see that politics does not intervene in justice”, he added.
According to him, now when Kosovars have taken full responsibilities from EULEX in matters of rule of law, they must work to show results.
After changing EULEX's mandate, Kosovars are now completely responsible for rule of law. Success and failure will be yours. You won't have anyone to congratulate or blame”, he said.
Delaway also talked about dialogue with Serbia.
Political “Liders, regardless of which party they belong to, must find common language in joint goals for Kosovo. Kosovo needs the spirit of co-operation among leaders to achieve progress”, he said.
While President Thaci said Kosovo is lucky to have “friends and supporters like Ambassador Delawi.
“With your work and commitment you are engaged every day for a Kosovo what Kosovo citizens want, you are committed to a more internationally consolidated Kosovo, for a better and cleaner Kosovo”, Thaci said.
“We will continue the work we have started and demand a major commitment”, he added.
“To enter the EU, NATO and international institutions must reach peaceful agreements even with Serbia, so we remain committed to finding a peaceful agreement not only to ensure recognition from Serbia but also seating at the UN. I know it will be difficult, but this is the only way ahead of”, the president of Kosovo said.
