The prosecution plans to request a ban on payments for 19 thousand false veterans. Such a move had not been requested by retired prosecutor Elez Blakaj. The same plan was to return veterans' verification first. However, Alexander Lumezi has said that in September the indictment for veterans is finalised and sent to the Court.
Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi has confirmed that this month he is going to the Court of Charge for Fraud veterans. He said they would propose stopping salaries for 19 thousand illegal veterans.
The proposal to halt the wages of fraudulent veterans was not proposed by Elez Blakaj, the retired prosecutor who has investigated the lists of KLA soldiers.
Blakaj, in contrast to the chief prosecutor, had proposed that the process of vetting veterans be returned from the beginning since he considered the number of frauds to be greater.
This statement has been reinforced by American Ambassador to Kosovo Greg Delaway, who has confirmed that there were only 15,000 KLA soldiers at war. As a result, the number of frauds is 45 thousand.
However, for T7 chief prosecutor Lumez has confirmed that the veterans' indictment goes to the Court these days.
The veterans' list scandal emerged after Elez Blakay fled to America. He then dropped charges that politics had influenced until he had even mentioned the names of politicians for whom he was asked not to be charged. He had prepared the indictment but had not sent him to the Court.
After that, there have been protests by civil society, with demand for the dismissal of Lumez.
Even so, the chief prosecutor says citizens' protests are legitimate, but has not thought of the resignation.
False veterans cause damage to the Kosovo state at least 40m euros a year. Still no one has gone away has been convicted, nor has he gone to prison for illegally benefiting the status of war veteran.
