Macedonia's government seems to have learned after Austria's flag scandal, during Austria's Prime Minister Sebastian Kurz's reception. Today, during German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit to verifiate whether Germany's flag is secure, Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev himself has checked it.

At the time German Chancellor Angela Merkel was expected to deliver his speech, the first of the Government of Macedonia has approached the site where Germany's flag was deployed, to verify if it is not confused with Belgium's.

These Zaev's allegations of the flag come after the long-awaited scandal in Skopje that had been made to Austria's prime minister, Sebastian Kurz.

On being organised for this visit, instead of Austria's flag, Latvia's flag had been deployed.

After that, Macedonia's government has apologised for the scandal, blaming the protocol, confusing the flag because of the similarity the flags of these two states have among themselves.
