Four bidders in race for construction of new thermal power plant

After announcing the process of initial selection in June, six applications were accepted and praised by Contour Global, whose results have been recognized by the Government of Kosovo. After the evaluation process, it has been concluded that four of these six applicants are pre-qualified, which have met the high technical and financial criteria, and have offered the funding papers from financial institutions.
Pre-qualified bidders for EPC are: CMEC, a consortium consisting of ENKA, Mitsubishi Hitaki Power Systems and Técnicas Reunidas, a consortium of General Electric and Hyundai companies.
They've offered supplies from Doosan, General Electric, I HI, Mitsubishi Hitaki Power Systems, Rafaco, Siemens and Toshiba, and long-term maintenance services from Alstom Power Service; General Electric? KPCO; KPS consortium, HPS, and OES; and a consortium of Mitsubishi Hitaki Power Systems, ENKA and Técnicas Reunidas, meanwhile, are under way launching the RFP.
Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has said that the thermal power plant “New Kosovo” will greatly improve the power supply and boost Kosovo's economic development, becoming an instrument of a perspective of strong development for the country's economy.

As part of this strategy, he added, the “New Kosovo” thermal power plant will replace the current outdated units of TC “Kosova A”.
New Kosovo thermal power plant” marks a historic moment for the economy of the Republic of Kosovo and will represent the country's largest foreign direct investment.
This will improve the stability of electricity supply, ending losses of $415m annually caused by Kosovo's unstable energy supply.
The new thermal power plant will result in significant improvement of air quality by reducing emissions of major pollutants and contributing to improving the health of people living and working in that region.
Dust issue will be reduced by 93%, while SOx and NOx will be reduced by 85%, 93%, respectively, even dropping CO2 by 38%.
