German Chancellor Angela Merkel today stands for visit to Macedonia on the 27th anniversary note from the referendum, where the country's independence was decided. Its position in the country is part of the support the international community gives for the upcoming referendum, scheduled for September 30th, when citizens must be declared for the Prespa Agreement and integration into NATO and the EU.
Angela Merkel heads the German government delegation for official visit to the country, which today will have solemn expectations before the Government. After the joint meeting, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and German Chancellor will host a joint conference.
German government spokesman Stein Zaybert warned that Merkel came to Skopje from a nearby point of view for the upcoming referendum.
Senior international community representatives visited Skopje on the eve of the September 30th referendum. Following NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's visit, and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurc, as well as Luxembourg Foreign Affairs Minister Jean Asselburn.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's visit is expected today. Knowers of international affairs assess that the message conveying these visits is clear: the referendum is very important for the country's future.
