The United States has always upheld Kosovo's sovereign right to the military and have been working closely with Kosovo about the way to achieve this. We have advised a prudent approach that keeps Kosovo in line with our NATO allies for this important step. We have not consulted the timing of this announcement, and we will need to analyze the bills to understand their purpose and effect. Our efforts of the past few weeks have focused on building an internal consensus for important dialogue with Serbia. We continue to believe that normalisation between Kosovo and Serbia is the most important step for progress in the near future”, the US Embassy's statement sent to the media said.
