Change of Kosovo's borders is unlikely to pass without violence. Thus, some European ambassadors in Pristina were quoted as praising a confidential report designed for the needs of the European Council for Foreign Relations (ECFR), a pan-European organisation of great influence.
The report estimates that Thaci has also begun to lose the support of foreign observers in Kosovo, while opponents of his idea of changing borders and exchange of territories quoted Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Chief Parliamentary Kadri Veselin and Vetevendosje Movement as being prime minister.
The two parties in the debate over the idea of border correction are clearly defined locally: Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselini, and opposition party Vetevendosje reject the idea, while President Hashim Thaci is its main supporter”, the report says.
The 3-page report, a copy which includes “Koha Ditore”, is drafted by Norbert Roettgen, current chairman of the Commission for Foreign Policy in the Germany Parliament, Bundestag, and Robert Cooper, former overseer of technical dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, and addresses the referendum issue for Macedonia's new name, as well as the debate in Kosovo about changing borders.
