In this analysis, Ahmeti has estimated that the visa decision could be postponed until after the European elections.
“1. Most of the deputies of Spain, Greece and Cyprus, which do not recognise Kosovo as a state, even most of France and the Netherlands have voted against.
2. MPs from the right (extremic) parties that lead with the governments of Italy, Belgium, Austria and Denmark have voted against it.
3. Taking into account the context of the May 2019 European elections and the fact that we have trouble with 6 of the EU's 10 largest states, the tendency may be to postpone the decision until after the European elections, when the EU will be even more divided and the right-wing”, has praised Ahmeti as advising the Kosovo government to urgently contact allies who have voted against the European Parliament.
“The government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of European Integrity must urgently contact the Allied governments and the governments of states that have recognised us and voted against us to demand vote and clarification. Parties in Kosovo should urgently contact parties as sisters in their networks to seek support. With European Social Democrats, it's not going to be a problem at all, but we're going to contact for every case”, Ahmeti wrote on Facebook.
