North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper confirmed that 32 people were killed in this region, while 11 in South Carolina and Virginia.
He stressed that field teams continue to work to help residents affected by the floods.
Some five thousand life shares in this region” have been conducted, Cooper said.
A large number of homes in the North and South Carolina region and Virginia have been flooded.
Floods along the two Carolinas caused major problems for the population, while more than a million people remained without electricity.
