Vuciq: I commit to partition between Serbs and Albanians, but it takes two to tango

Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said Thursday he commits himself to partition between Serbs and Albanians in Kosovo, echoing Serbia's demands for the land division of Kosovo under the process of normalising relations. “I am in favour, and this is my policy, for sharing with Albanians, because having a territory that is not known who treats it and who it belongs to, is always a source of possible conflicts”, he said, underlining that “does not hide such a target”, but, it is not known whether the Serbian people will accept it or not, and if they succeed, it does not depend on Serbia alone.
“Two people need tango”, he said.
Kosovo has dismissed the idea of its land division, while we are involved in debates sparked by President Hashim Thaci's idea of “correction of the limit”, which according to him means uniting the Presevo Valley, a majority Albanian region in southern Serbia with Kosovo.
Serbia has pledged that it will not recognise Kosovo's independence, which was declared in February 2008 with the support of the United States and the European Union. But it is involved in a negotiation process for normalising relations with Kosovo, which is also a condition for the European integrations of both sides.
The talks are expected to resume in September and would have to lead to a comprehensive legal binding agreement for normalising relations. / VoA
