According to Murati, identifying persons who illegally exploit thisfyrusion meant salvation for the liberation war and the fallen martyrs.
The process to compile the list of war veterans is one of the greatest shames of post-war Kosovo. With this process the reputation of our liberation war, our martyrs, our warriors who gave everything for Kosovo to be free. As the former minister in the past government, I have publicly sought the government's meeting by former Prime Minister Mustafa to ask the chief prosecutor to start investigating and prosecuting for the swelling of the war veterans' lists. We did the same thing as LB through public statements.
Today, Chief Prosecutor Lumezi, speaking of the suspicious resignation of special prosecutor Elez Blakaj, has confirmed that 19,000 people in the investigation phase have been identified that exploits veteran warcits illegally. I remain convinced that even this number is small, but however, the response of the prosecution institutions should be quick and efficient. Thus the honour of our liberation war, of warriors and martyrs is saved, but also of the Kosovo budget.
A response to justice bodies courageously in this direction would hit the clientlist mentality of political parties and various criminal clans, which have misused this process for political and financial benefits. At the same time, it would be a step towards restoring a belief in justice organs, a belief which is also small, which has evolved even more these days by the resignation of prosecutor Blakaj”, Murati has said.
