Following Chancellor Angela Merkel's comments about the territorial division of the Republic of Kosovo, the country's president, Hashim Thaci, has reacted to his Twitter account, writes Periscopi.
Thaci in his reaction, in which he has received only 10 approvals, has written that she welcomes Chancellor Merkel's reaction to the non-restriction of borders in the Western Balkans. What remains to be done, adds the president, is for the EU to persuade the five countries that have not recognised Kosovo, plus Serbia to recognise the country's independence within these borders.
The sooner this happens, the better for the region.” The Thaci concludes.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, who has been more cautious, has reacted to Chancellor Merkel, saying that “the West recognises the independence of Kosovo” meaning that with the review of the borders, independence would be affected. /Periscopi
