Ali al-Awadi became famous after being filmed swimming around the Temple during 1941, when great floods had occurred in the holy city.

The published photos dating back some 77 years show al-Awadhin swimming around the House, where the floods had caused up to a half a mile deep.

He had confessed that he had gone to tears with his brother and two friends when they suddenly saw the watery place. Al áwadhi says he had decided to do it by swimming without it, according to Islamic Islam.

But he wasn't the first person in the world to do that, writes Al Arabya.
