The poorest country in the region is being evacuated. During the past year alone, 11 thousand and 263 residents have left Kosovo. All these people have taken the way abroad in search of a better life. Of the sociologists, this is considered a disturbing phenomenon, while the main blame is given to politics.

Each year, some 10,000 people leave the poorest country in the region. But last year this figure has increased.

According to recent data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency, summed up in the “population assessment 2017” report, the number that has issued Kosovo over the past year is 11 thousand and 263 people.

“The international migration: the number of Kosovo immigrants during 2017 is estimated to be a total of 11,263 residents, including legal and illegal immigrants”, the ASS report says.

Most of those who left Kosovo for 2017 were legal immigrants. While the reason for migration was mainly because of family union, marriages, employment, permanent deportation (mostly in neighbouring states), or long - term employment studies.

Also, during 2017 a considerable number emigrated to seek asylum (for the first time) in EU countries, including European Free Trade Association countries (EFTA).

A number of Kosovars had emigrated to other countries mainly to the US, Canada and other countries in addition to the EU countries.

But besides Kosovars who left Kosovo and went to live in foreign lands, others also changed their cities. More than 9,000 residents move from one municipality to another over the past year.

And the reason why these residents moved in is mainly the trend of marriage.

The number of people who have changed housing from the previous municipality (from one municipality to another municipality within Kosovo) has been estimated to be a total of 9,376 residents (based on marriage trends, movements in the 5-year-old period: 2005-10 extracted from the census base, as well as the number of students who have changed the residential municipality)”, points out in the ASC report.

Unlike those residents who traveled to foreign lands, about 5,000 other citizens and the yoke of Kosovo to inhabit. The latter number totals nearly 60,000.

This number includes returnees, asylum seekers, and the licensed ones.

“International immigration: According to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MPB), municipality, U n NHCR, IOM and data from several municipalities, the number of immigrants in Kosovo, during 2017 was a total of 5,842. This number has included returnees/redirected, the number of Kosovo asylum seekers who have earned citizenship rights, as well as residence permits more than a (1) year's stay in Kosovo”, said further in the AK report.

Of the sociologists, the number of citizens who have emigrated is considered to be a high colloy.

Sociologist Besim Golopen has told Gazeta Express that the main reasons why these citizens are leaving Kosovo are the difficult social and economic situation, the high degree of corruption, as well as the pursuit of a better life.

Golopen says that “meritas” is key to high immigration rates with negative “” the country's leadership, but not only. It claims that some of the responsibility is carried by the people.

This political class also achieved the last hope of its citizen being given progress and perspective in this country. However, a measure of responsibility in this regard is undoubtedly carried by the people themselves. For all these years, the people have been silent, uninterested, and inactive, and kept silent over the evils that you have suffered, believing that this situation is not their responsibility and seeing as their only solution immigration which, this approach is very harmful and unfriendly to the people of” himself, Golpen said.

To change this situation, Golopen says that much work must be done.

But as a first job, he says that the lost hope of the citizens must return.

The creation of jobs and improved working conditions for today is a legitimate and fundamental requirement without which man cannot have complete welfare. Then, establishing the quality of education, health and other areas plays an important role in lowering the international migration rate”, Golopen told Express.

Differently, according to Interior Ministry data and also based on data provided by EU countries, show that the number of Kosovo citizens, who were occupied with illegal positions within the territory of EU member states and the Schengen area in 2016, was 11,370 people.

This indicates an apparent decline in number compared to the previous years, especially in 2015, which was 52,310. While the place where the largest number of Kosovars are caught standing illegal is Germany
