Putin's opponent sentenced to prison

Opposition leader in Russia Alexei Navajo has been sentenced by a court in Moscow to 30 days in prison for breaking the protest law for a rally that was held on January 28th in the Russian capital. Navalny was arrested Saturday evening at his home, and today his decision to lead [...] was communicated with.
Navalny was arrested Saturday evening in his house, and today the decision was communicated with that he has led an unauthorized protest, calling for boycotts of the manipulated presidential election.
This sentence on the opposition leader comes just days before September 9th, where Navalny has called for a wide wave of protests against pension reform, which Russia is preparing.
The Russian state has repeatedly demanded that the protests be organised and allowed, but in most cases has refused to authorise the development of gatherings, following official demands of the opposition.
Navally himself names this sentence entirely political, to minimise participation in the 9 September protests, while stressing he would never give up protests on the streets of Moscow to protect citizens' rights.
