EU citizens, according to all likelihood, will for the last time turn the evil scorpions to calculate winter time.
More than 80 per cent of respondents in most of the <x0online” have expressed themselves against the shift of the clock twice a year, writes German newspaper Vestaphalen citing well-informed sources in Brussels. The survey, which lasted from July 4th to August 16th, took part in about 4.6 million people.
The European Commission will discuss the results of the research today, writes EUACTIV.com.
Commission spokesman Margaritis Skinjas said the “poll is not a referendum”, and that the removal of the clock shift should be discussed in the European Parliament as well.
The current summer count has been set up in Germany in 1980, and much earlier in other countries with electricity savings. Since 2002, the shift of the clock has been adjusted to the European Union level as well.
