While in Kosovo it is being debated on the correction of the borders between Kosovo and Serbia through a final, legally binding agreement, according to researcher Tomislav Lulzim Perushiq, in the Serbian state the debate is being made about something else -- the partition of Kosovo.
According to Perushqi, there they don't think there should be correction of borders, but its separation.
Serbia's “is not talking about the exchange of territories, it is only about partitioning Kosovo at the most, it means taking Kosovo's north. I think the exchange of territories is something very complicated and very dangerous because it becomes a precedent for division of states, not only in the region but even wider. Serbia's government, I think it aims not to get Kosovo's share just because it's about a small part, but it aims at Bosnia, the division of Bosnia and the so-called Republika Srpska that was created in 92th”, he said.
Perushiq, who is attending the lectures of Albanian Language, Literature and Culture in Pristina, expresses his fears that with political games under way, he risks a possible ethnic cleansing.
Kosovo is Kosovo, and you must do so. He has to deal with more of what happened during the wars, with the victims of war, the found. All of this is political games that harm not only the Albanian people but also the Serb people, that the north of Kosovo is not inhabited only with Serbs, there are Albanians there... Also, in the Presevo Valley, there are not only Albanians, there are Serbs living there. That would mean that even ethnic cleansing would happen if they exchanged territories. I think the northern Albanians will leave to move south, the Serbs in the valley are wanting to stay in Serbia. I think it's very dangerous”, he says of KosovaPress.
The expression of his political beliefs, according to Albanian-language researchers, is not that easy in Serbia, as the speaker may face a host of prejudices.
I didn't talk much about politics with my society. I know who I can talk to and who I can't talk to, because there are too many stubborn people and they don't change their mind... I just showed them that Albanians are people like everyone else and that they are very hospitable. Even from my experience, I think Albanians have less prejudice against people than people in Serbia”, he indicated.
According to him, mutual recognition of languages would lead Albanians and Serbs to communicate more among themselves, which would gradually normalise their reports.
