It can be an agreement that can bring lasting peace, prosperity and European integration of the Balkans, or it can throw the region into a renewed conflict.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is preparing to visit Kosovo next month, amid evidence ever stronger than Belgrade and Pristina are circulating the idea of reaching an agreement to divide territory and make an exchange of territory on ethnic grounds, writes The Guardian, broadcasts newspapers.
The Guardian says reports suggest the Presevo Valley could be given to Kosovo in exchange.
The paper also cites information from Serbian government sources, which show that the American stance is changing -- also that of France -- except Germany, which has been declared against the idea of changing borders.
A source from the Kosovo government confirms that some from the international community are increasingly open to the idea, alluding to the idea of partition.
While critics argue that redefining ethnic-based borders would set a precedent for the rest of the Balkans, following the bloody wars that followed after the breakup of Yugoslavia.
