Canon protest violence, murder of women

Today, the Kacanik protest has been held “Boll Ma” in response to the violence and murder of women, by human rights activists.

Under calls “Boll Ma”, “Ded justice”, beneath the patriarchate”, “I am the man”, etc., the protest started in the City Park of this municipality, then went on towards the Court, Police and ended up at the Communist object.

Following calls for justice and prevention of violence, protesters have also sought the dismissal of President Thaci and chief Lumez prosecutor, through calls “Conu with protest, Hashim Haynin with a screech” and <x2 Lumez o fagizi, without going you have no justice”.

Again, protesters have sought the dismissal of police, commander and prosecutor of Gjakova in the case of the murder in the village of Brecoc, where Peter Ndocij allegedly killed his wife Valbona Ndecaj and daughter.

Luljeta Aliu from the Justice and Equality Initiative has shown that through this protest they are seeking justice for all citizens, without any distinction.

We've come here because we've been born for 20 years, we're not free. Women are not free, men are not free, citizens are not free. We've fought for one freedom, given life to many martyrs, many people, and we're busy. From who? Dituri Neziraj, human rights activist, said the police's failure to respond to calls for help is institutional violence.

We are here demanding that the cases in our courts on domestic violence be seriously examined, and the perpetrators be seriously punished. And activist Ilire Rakaj has said that through this protest they are seeking equal treatment and want to say enough violence against women, wherever they are.

She said that the cause for justice should be both genders.

Kosovo has no female to lose, no matter how many lost calls, how many dusty files, even names to add to the women's murder list, but also children, or we should just be sad three days before media news and then quietly wait for which one of us is next... . This is not a declared battle between two genders, it's a call for them, it's a battle we have to win together”, Rakaj said.

The protest has also been followed by the interpretation of two poems “Boll ma” by Edmond Demas and “I'm her” from Altina Gjini.

Organisers have said they will not stop and have announced they will continue with further protests until their demands are met.
