In an interview for the newspaper “Panorama”, Bushati has talked about recent border discussions, stating that Kosovo's status is regional and European issues, rather than a bilateral issue.
There is no reason to preach the construction of a new international order, establishing in collateral the labor and transformational achievements of our region, made possible precisely because of this international order. So we don't have to spend energy on how Serbia will be compensated in exchange for recognition of Kosovo, or how it will be rehabilitated in the region. No, it's”, says Bushati.
For Albania and Kosovo allies, Kosovo's status is closed and its independence irreversible. Therefore, we must rely on those fundamental principles that ensure democratic peace and stability in the region”.
“Put in this prism, Kosovo's status cannot be re-opened, neither in bilateral and multilateral forms. And let it become the object of comparison to other cases turned into frozen collusions, as a result of toleration of the restoration progress, which would give rise to third actors in Kosovo and the region”.
But the direct question of what Albania's position is on the proposal for exchange of territories or border corrections, he has thus replied: “would not be realistic, for such thorny topics, official positions to be based on algorithms, tactical actions or test statements”.
For Kosovo and the status of Albanians in the region, Albania has a forged stance over the years, stemming from constitutional obligations and interparty political unity”.
“In this prism we encourage the continuation of the dialogue process and the achievement of a legally binding agreement, respecting Kosovo's territorial integrity, unitary form of state, multi-confessional character, as envisioned in the Constitution of Kosovo and the protection of Albanian rights living in the Presevo Valley, in accordance with Serbia's obligations and in line with international norms and European law<1>.
