Great Britain considers that discussions on possible partition or change of Kosovo borders -- for demarcation or exchange of territories between Kosovo and Serbia -- should take into account all the issues, risks and prices that open these topics.
British Ambassador to Belgrade Denis Keefe has said that about Radio Free Europe (Balkan Service).
Asked if it should be expected that Great Britain's chief minister, Theresa May, could do something similar to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been openly declared to be against the new borders in the Balkans, Keefe says:
“Kancelara speaks on behalf of Germany. Our attitude is that, when we look at these ideas, because we still don't have any proposals or plans, but just ideas, we see issues, risks and prices. I think this should be considered”, transmits Time.net.
Keefe confirms any ideas that come out of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia should be real and attainable.
“You should ask how it [ide] will contribute to improving people's lives on the ground, how it will contribute to the region's progress, how it will adapt to developments on the” international stage, Keefe said.
British Ambassador to Belgrade says Britain and the entire EU want to see normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which would enter an international agreement and which would bring security, stability and prosperity to all.
This is not easy. Dialogue so far has not brought any proposals or plans through which this can be achieved. What we all have to do is support the dialogue so that it can get to that point. We should also make our contribution by putting forth the right questions to help reach an agreement that is real and which solves problems over the long term, which improves the daily lives of citizens in that part and in the region in general”, British Ambassador to Belgrade Denis Keefe stressed.
