His name has recently been mentioned even for intervention in Kosovo's related special prosecutor's investigations. But can the current minister of innovation and entrepreneurship end up in prison after the establishment of the indictment for one of the biggest relatives in Kosovo and allegations of interference in prosecutorial affairs?
Besim Beqaj earlier held the post of Finance and Economic Development Minister and for the first time in a few years, explains up to detail for inFokus, his involvement in the “Proto”, communications with Adem Grabovci and allegations of pressure on prosecution through chief prosecutor Alexander Lumezi for his name to be removed from the indictment.
He says he has never met former prosecutor Elez Blakaj, while acknowledging that he has spoken to Chief Prosecutor Lumez.
Asked if he hired people and had enough influence to end up behind bars, Beqaj denies this.
No. Not that I can go to prison, but I don't have a material responsibility or a moral responsibility that anyone can accuse me of. Either way it's in a process, I won't talk about details, because the process will prove it. I trust the justice system in Kosovo, I believe there are responsible people and there are professional people who should appreciate material evidence. Where the document speaks, the words relax”, Beqaj says.
