Only on August 12th of this year have girls and women allegedly beaten, attempted to rape and blackmail them sexually. According to the Kosovo Police report for the 24th hour of this date, for attacks on women all suspects are boys and men.
This ordinary “24-hourr” for Kosovars has happened to be less than a week after a woman and a girl were killed by the former husband, the father, respectively, after justice institutions failed to offer help even though they were aware of the threats, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
Men in most cases have the power at home and using this “power” violent women. The institutions of justice, which require help from victims of domestic violence, are primarily guided by men.
Local and international reports are severe criticism of these institutions, which, they say, by not reacting over time, not seriously dealing with cases or imposing soft sentences have contributed to “the achievement of” violence against women.
