Up to a kilo of cocaine was packed in separate malls, wearing wax and a blanket of pineapple shell in Costa Rica before arriving in the Spanish capital on Sunday.
Seven people, three in Madrid and four in Barcelona, have been arrested on suspicion of trafficking.
Police said wax has also been used to hide drugs and avoid detection.
Officials described the pineapples as: “Empty and completely empty with compact cylinders and every fruit contains 800-1,000g of cocaine”.
