Air pollution causes massive loss of intelligence, according to a recent research, indicating that the damage to the society caused by toxic air is much greater than thought, reports the Guardian, writes Periscope.

The research was done in China, but it's for the world, with 95% of the world's population breathing unsafe air daily. High levels of pollution were found to be marks of decline in language and arithmetic testing scores, with an average impact equivalent to a year's loss from one person's education.

Earlier research revealed that contaminated air harms the student's cognitive performance, but this is the first person to have examined people of all ages without making any distinction between women and men. /Periscopi
