Over 38m euros annually cost the state to false veterans

In the indictment already signed by former prosecutor Blakaj, 12 people have been charged.

<x0m>Agim Ceku, Nurredin Luztaku, Sadik Halitaj, Shkumbin Demalijaj, Qele Gashi, Shukri Buja, Ahmet Daku, Rrustem Berisha, Faik Fazliou, Smajl Elezaj, Fadil Shudrayaj, and Javitti Yashari, allegedly as members of the government Commission for recognition and verification of the status of witnesses of the nation, invalid, veteran, member and exile of the Kosovo Liberation Army, “the quality of the officials, have allegedly exceeded their competencies, and have not met the dutiess that can be obtained against other citizens, in the ongoing budget act of Kosovo.

The procedures and audioincirtations of this commission's meetings are the main facts in this indictment.

Former Prosecutor Blakaj was based on claims by Sami Lushtaku, Bemer Rama, Avdi Raracit, Hysni Ngucatit, Spiro Butka, Bujar Shala.

Sami Lushtaku had been a part of the Commission itself in 2011. Two years later, however, when he was arrested for war crimes, his cousin Nuredin Lushtaku had taken his place in the commission.

According to the indictment no one had heard of the “Hasan Pristina” Brigade until March 2016.

With all efforts to find a solution with the commanders of that brigade, such a thing had not been achieved, and Faik Fazliu confirms what Nuredin Lushtaku said, that this brigade did not exist at all”.

In the process of meeting the government Commission, most members, according to the indictment, are aware that the large number of veterans is fraud.

We can debate as much as you like, but the number of veterans has gotten bigger than what we imagined. This number cannot be reduced, we have done the job as we did, and each of us carries our own responsibility”, accused Agim Ceku was quoted as saying already.

Former Prime Minister Agim Ceku, according to the processes cited in the indictment, is concerned that “mostly have swollen lists in Dukagjin” and this thing can be noted.

According to the indictment, however, the way the lists were being made had not been hired by KSF commander Nundman Rama.

This is evidenced in an audioisation that former Prosecutor Blakaj aimed to use in the court.

Many applications that have received the status of KLA veteran have not even had the signature of the chain of command, while there have been even children of war who have already become KLA veterans.

Both soldiers and persons who lived outside Kosovo during wartime have been registered.
