Thousands of people are trapped in the southern state of Kerala, where 324 people have died in violent floods.
Hundreds of troops, dozens of ships and helicopters are helping evacuate people after those named by officials there as the worst floods of a century.
Many people have been blocked by the waters and have climbed to the roofs of their flooded homes. The burdened situation led to the affected region, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, who arrived by plane in the hit areas and met with local authorities to discuss the crisis.
Rescue efforts have recently been included and the country's military.
