Urology director who sought bribes in house arrest

Urology Clinic Director at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo Rexhep Kasumi, who was arrested for taking bribes worth 100 euros from one patient, has been placed in house arrest. The Court of Appeals has ruled this security measure by rejecting the 30-day detention decision [...]
The decision on this security measure has been taken by the Court of Appeals, rejecting the 30-day detention decision of the Constitutional Court in Pristina, taken on July 7th of this year.
Kosovo's “Court of Appeals has approved the complaint against the appointment of a 30-day detention measure, on the part of the Constitutional Court in Pristina, against the R.K. defendants. The first-degree court ruling of the date, 07.07.2018, has been changed. The suspects, the detention measure, have been replaced by the home arrest”, said the Appeal for the Media report.
Kasumi is suspected by the prosecutor's side because of the criminal act “due to the use of official duty or authority” by Article 422 of the Republic of Kosovo's Penal Code and “Brit Taking”, by Article 428 of this code. “The Court of Appeals, estimates that even the measure of home arrest, is enough to prevent the risk of escape, the impact on witnesses, and the risk of repeating the criminal act”, the media report concludes.
