In an interview for the TV Fox News recorded in Helsinki and aired on 17 July in the United States, Trump has been asked about NATO Article 5, which reportedly attacks on one coalition member, is an attack on all other members, reports the REL.
When asked by interviewer: “Why should my son go to Montenegro to protect that country from the attack?”, Trump said: “I understand what you mean, I've asked the same question”.
He has said that Montenegro is a tiny <x0-state with very powerful people, they are powerful people, aggressive people. They can become aggressive and congratulations, here's the Third World War”.
At the NATO summit, held last week, Trump has called on member states to increase their defence expenses.
Montenegro has become 29th member NATO in June 2017, making a historic turn towards the transatlantic alliance amid objections from Russia.
Moscow has repeatedly opposed NATO enlargement and has sharply criticised Podgorica for membership in the alliance.
