About 60 people have already been confirmed that they died of fire that erupted in the mountains of the Attica region in Greece. This is considered to be the biggest fire crisis in the country in decades. The most affected in this area is the tourist village of Matti.

Rescue teams have already found the bodies of 26 adult victims and children who were reportedly found carbonized and embraced.

“Hers this morning in this country we found some victims, among whom children. Clearly, they were known, because they were found in groups by three people who seemed to want to protect each other by embracing”, a fireman said.

On the other hand, thousands of firefighters are fighting fire, and authorities have sought international assistance.

However, some countries, especially neighbouring Greece, have already offered to help the country.

Already Italy, Germany, Poland and France have sent planes to extinguish fires, firefighters and other vehicles, and Spain and Cyprus have offered assistance to the country, but with rising temperatures, all are in the race with time to calm the fire.

Meanwhile, coastal patrols managed to rescue many people by ship who had managed to escape from the fire and reach the beaches.

Among the victims, as the Albanian Embassy in Athens has declared, there are no Albanians, and those who were gone spoke of the horrors they had seen.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has declared a state of emergency in the region, saying all emergency services have been mobilised. The outbreak of this fire is the worst incident in Greece since 2007.

Fires, otherwise, are an ongoing problem in Greece because of the warm and dry summer months. But, authorities have claimed to the media that it is likely this time the fire was prompted by people seeking to plunder abandoned homes.

“15 fires have started simultaneously on three different fronts in Athens”, the Greek Government spokesman has said.

For the tragedy taking place in Greece, solidarity has voiced many politicians from the region and the world. Among them was Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj, who, writing on Twitter, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims.

Kosovo stands close to the Greek government, and offers its support to pass this difficult moment”, Hoxhaj wrote.

Three days of mourning in Greece has been declared in honor of fire victims.
