Reporter Ira Londo reports from Greece for “BalkanWeb” that referring to the Albanian community living there is taught that among the victims there are 5 Albanians, among whom three men and two children.
The three Albanian men who lost their lives were employed in a tavern that was burned by fire. It is also taught that several houses of Albanians living and working in Greece have been burned. There is still no official confirmation from the authorities for Albanians who have lost their lives, but are expected to be made public next.
Refine's mayor has said that the death toll could be 3 digits, as there are doubts that some people have been thrown into the sea to escape the flames and have drowned. Mothers with embraced children have also been found in charred cars. People have only had two paths, or cut fire or thrown into the sea. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has declared a state of emergency in the Attic region. Several European countries, such as Italy, Poland, Germany, and France, have sent jets to neutralise the flames.
