That is because after finishing professional schooling, students are not offered a job. Experts say students who choose professional schools are very much oriented in directions that require further schooling. Meanwhile, education ministry officials say that some professional schools in our country have good conditions for preparing young people for the market, but greater awareness is required of all.
Many students in Kosovo do not choose professional high school to enroll. One of them is Arta Gashi, who told Kosovo Radio that the reason he has not chosen a professional school is the fear that after completing he cannot find a job.
The reason I didn't pick a professional school is that we don't have the right perspective in our country. And I think, in our country, you might end up a professional school, but you can't find a place to work at”.
Education expert Dukagjin Pupovci told Radio Kosovo that professional schools are like the second choice to register, while, according to him, even those students who enroll choose those directions that require further schooling:
It is a fact that in Kosovo professional education is the second choice for students. About forty - five percent are in the technical, legal, economic, health, which to be employed require university studies. ”
Meanwhile, the head of the Division for Education, Standards and Monitoring at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mustaf Kadriu, stressed that there is a need for greater awareness of the importance of selecting professional schools because most of them have conditions to prepare young people for the job market.
I think there should be greater propaganda on parents and students to be more instructed in professional schools. Good students in practice, in their workplaces, are staying right away. ”
The Ministry of Science and Technology, professional education, has declared it a priority and is expected to compile strategies in the future that would affect improving the situation in professional schools.
