The crowd has been singing slogans against Russia's President Vladimir Putin, who has supported such an initiative, reports Euronews, broadcasts Klan Kosova.
The rally, organised by the Liberian Party, held slogans against Putin, as “Putin is a thief” and “remove the car”, common slogans in anti-Putin and anti-government protests.
About 90 percent of the population oppose the bill, according to a recent survey.
The proposal to raise retirement age -- from 60 to 65 per male, as well as 55 to 63 for women -- is part of a budget package drafted by lawmakers to support government finances.
The retirement age changes would come into force, starting in 2019, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said when he presented the plan. Officials had stated that this bill would help boost the pension in Russia.
The average pension in Russia is now around 14,400 rubel (196.63 EUR).
