Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russian services and other security troops have prevented 25 million cyber attacks, which have been linked to the World Cup Championship, broadcast the AP.
Putin has announced the desperate attacks after the finals of this championship, and prior to meeting with US President Donald Trump, who is expected to seek discussion about the alleged intervention of the Kremlin and Russia's cyber attacks on the US election system.
In statements made public Monday by the Kremlin, Putin has said cyber attacks have targeted “information infrastructure” linked to the World Cup, without providing further details.
He has spoken at a meeting with representatives of 55 intelligence units from 34 states who have worked to secure the tournament.
He has said that thanks to Russia's severe security there were no serious “incident” and the “people who came to our country felt very secure”.
Putin's leadership is marked with the strengthening of security services in Russia.
